Virtual University started its journey in year 2002 in one discipline and two degree programs and MaShaAllah now we have 5 disciplines and 70 degree programs. VU has 120 campuses all over Pakistan, among them CCI-VU Sialkot campus is considered to be the best one MaShaAllah. CCI-VU Sialkot campus has graduated 2167 students till date and produced 12 Gold medalists and 22 position holders. Alhamdulillah it’s a big achievement and accomplishment by the grace of Almighty Allah and sincere efforts of VU and CCI Faculty and Staff.
10th convocation of the University was held at Golf View Hall in Sialkot. As many as 416 VU graduates received Bachelor’s, Master’s and MS degrees at the ceremony. Gold Medals and Merit Certificates were also awarded to outstanding graduates.
The convocation was declared open by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abbas Choudhry, Rector Virtual University of Pakistan. While addressing on this auspicious occasion he welcomed all the guests and thanked all participants. He said that the parents and teachers deserve to be congratulated the same as the students today. He asked students to always remain respectful to their parents and set targets and goals to achieve better results.
Dr. Muhammad Abbas Choudhary also grabbed the attention of the audience by highlighting the sublime poetry of Allama Iqbal. He also read some verses from the poetry of Iqbal.
خُودی کو کر بُلند اتنا کہ ہر تقدیر سے پہلے
خُدا بندے سے خُود پوچھے بتا تیری رضا کیا ہے
He threw light on Iqbal’s Falsafa-i-Khudi (Philosophy of Self). he said “Khudi” in simple words symbolizes realization of self, i.e. recognizing one’s ego, one’s self-sufficiency, self-reliance, self-respect, and the divine elements that connect creation with the creator. Further he added Khudi means to realize that man has a particle of divine light within him and he should ponder over the very goal, reason and cause of the universe and man’s very being. He was of the view that youth was the main focus of Iqbal in his poetry. he addressed and encouraged people, particularly the youth, to stand up and face life's challenges boldly. He said new generation should be made aware of the real message of Allama Iqbal. They should equip themselves with knowledge/education and keep their vision high to achieve their goals.
He also appreciated CCI for its extra ordinary efforts. He said CCI is an exceptional partner among all PVCs. It has been playing a vital role towards the betterment of Virtual university since its inception.
He further highlighted the achievements of VU, its leading role in delivering ITC based education and contribution in the provision of quality education even to the remotest areas of the country. He said that the academic institutes foster the culture of academic excellence and in this process, VU has constantly maintained high standards in all spheres to align future strategic directions.
Speaking to the cheering graduates as chief guest, formar Chairman PTA-PTCL and PEMRA Mian Muhammad Javed recognized the efforts to promote quality education in the country. Chief Guest along with Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abbas Choudhry distributed medals and awards among high achievers to celebrate dedication in their respective disciplines. Besides the dignitaries and families of the students, faculty members and a large number of students were present at the convocation.
